Blog posts #1 and #2

Hello! I'm Sasha Weist, and I'm originally from Plymouth, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis). I'm double majoring in Psychology and Com Arts (Radio TV Film). Here on campus, I'm involved with the Synchronized Figure Skating Team. I decided to take this class based on the recommendation from another girl on my skating team. She's also a Com Arts major, and really enjoyed it.

The YouTube video was great in helping me understand how some of the different early networks contributed to the internet. I'm very visual, so having the animation follow along with what was being said was incredibly helpful. I will definitely refer back to the video to reinforce some of the ideas presented there and in readings. Plus, the narrator's voice was super classy, so that's an added bonus =)

Blogs #1 and #2

Hello, everybody. My name is Eric Wagers and I am from Racine, Wisconsin. I am a sophomore majoring in Strategic Communication (Advertising/Public Relations) in the School of Journalism & Mass Communication. I am especially excited for Com Arts 346 because I think it is tremendously applicable to my major and my intended career path. I hope to one day work for a professional sports franchise either in marketing and promotions or in public relations.

As for the video on the history of the internet, I thought it really helped the learning process in regards to the article by Janet Abbate. Reading the article for the first time was a bit overwhelming as it was difficult to truly comprehend how exactly the internet was constructed. The video helped to visualize exactly what occurred and supplemented the reading perfectly. I also thought it was very interesting, because I never really researched or learned about how the internet came about and how exactly it works.

Liz - a brunette woman, wearing glasses, in a museum
Hi folks! Thought I'd post a quick introduction while I'm setting up your section blog. I'm Liz, I'm your lecturer, and I'm really excited about teaching this course! I've added some new stuff about social networks, online celebrity, and 4Chan, and I think you'll really like the new practicum project options.

On a more personal note, my research is on internet media and disability, and I like running, lol/cats, watching MTV, and I am totally addicted to my Twitter feed.

See you soon!
