I decided to blog about my third NFL community of a Facebook Page. The page is a "like" page for NFL. I have mostly been observing the "Discussions" section and the "Wall" section to see what each section offered and if they differed any.
Discussion Section (pictured)
This section operates much like a message board, in that people post a topic and then people discuss it. The topics here varied quite a bit. There was one on the possible Lockout and quite a few off topics. The one advantage of this type is that people can respond to one another and debate or argue about certain things. One memorable experience I had was a discussion about the possible lockout. People were debating who was to blame the players or the owners and whether there would even be a season. My stance is that both players and owners are to blame, with the owners owning a little more of the blame, but no one has seemed to respond to it.
Wall Section
The wall section is the moderators of the NFL page posting certain stories and leaving "fans" of the page a chance to comment or "like the story." An advantage of this is that the topics are controlled and don't get off topic. However, the comments are just a madhouse, with little ability to respond or make relationships with others. Most times I have just commented and left it because its hard to read through the 1000s of comments to see if someone responded to my comment.
